Tina Winkhaus

'Eternal Sadness', an accompanying videoinstallation from Fabian Grobe (Bauhouse) und Tina Winkhaus, 2010.

Eternal Sadness

With her latest works Eternal Sadness, Winkhaus once more shows what she does best: all the loathing of the world wrapped in the most perfect appearance. Nowadays parents tend to linger after eternal youth. Yet they treat their children as adults and expect them to understand the most complex emotional structures and patterns one can imagine. Asking a two year old child whether it needs love or attention seems to be more normal than to cuddle it properly when it’s crying. With focusing on children only, Tina demonstrates the socially unpleasant dimension of cruelty this paradoxon of juvenile parents and adolescent children implies.
